LEGACY GIVING FUND
The Permanent Endowment Fund of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church
What is the Legacy Giving Fund?
The Legacy Giving Fund was approved by the congregation of St. Andrew’s UMC as a Charge Conference Resolution on September 9, 2021. That established the Permanent Endowment Fund and also defined who and how the funds would be managed and used.
The fund will be used to provide financial assistance (grants) for the purpose of growing new and enhancing existing programs at St. Andrew’s UMC. There are three giving options defined in the resolution, as follows:
-
Church Ministries
-
Capital Improvements
-
General (undesignated)
Why Give?
Legacy Giving Fund is a way for church members to provide a final gift/tithe or as a way to honor a family member or friend. For some, a gift may be an opportunity to be a tax savings opportunity.
How does the Legacy Fund work?
All donations given to the fund will be deposited into one of three Florida United Methodist Foundation (FUMF) investment funds. All three FUMF funds will contain a mixture of financial products (securities, fixed income, etc). Yearly, the Permanent Endowment Committee will make recommendations to Church Council for grants totaling 3% of the value of the fund. The committee has the leeway to make recommendations of up to 5% if the fund had a good year of financial growth. All financial information related to the fund will always be available on this website.
Florida United Methodist Foundation Partnership
The Permanent Endowment Committee made the decision to partner with the Florida United Methodist Foundation Investment Fund and are available only to United Methodist churches. Currently they report the fund’s total balance is over $96 Million. FUMF partners with CAPTRUST, a company with over $740 billion in managed or under advisement assets.

Gifting Ideas
There are three fund options that you can designate where you would like for your donation. Two are designate -- Church Ministries or Capital Improvement. Any gift without a designation will go automatically into the General Fund.
The list of gifting options below are just some ideas that are the most common ways to donate to a charitable fund.
While an Endowment Committee member can provide an overview of the different options that are available, it is always wise to seek out the advice of a professional financial advisor, accountant, or attorney before making any final donation decisions. Also available to our congregation are licensed financial advisor resources from the Florida United Methodist Foundation.
