Air Conditioning Replacement Project

We are blessed at St. Andrew’s with a beautiful campus and facilities that faithfully supports our mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ and serve both our congregation and the wider community.

There is a total of 24 air conditioners that serve our four main campus buildings. Our current units are ageing and increasingly unreliable, leading to costly repairs and potentially uncomfortable conditions during services and events.

We will have replaced 8 of the units over the last two years (2024 and 2025). There is a need to replace 12 more units over the next three years at an estimated cost of $300,000.

We have initiated a church-wide capital campaign "Keeping Our Cool!" in 2026 to raise the money to replace these units and ensure our church remains a welcoming place for all.

Your Questions Answered
Q: Why is St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church launching a capital campaign for air conditioning?
A: Our church is a place of worship, fellowship, and community outreach. With Florida’s intense heat and humidity, reliable air conditioning is essential—not just for comfort, but for health and hospitality. Our current units are ageing and increasingly unreliable, leading to costly repairs and potentially uncomfortable conditions during services and events. This campaign will help us replace these units and ensure our church remains a welcoming place for all.
Q: How many air conditioning units does our church campus have?
A: St. Andrew’s has 24 air conditioning units that keep our four main campus buildings comfortable year-round.
Q: How many air conditioning units need to be replaced and when do they need to be replaced?
A: We will have replaced 8 of the units over the last two years (2024 and 2025). There are an additional 12 units that need to be replaced over the next 3 years. Most of our units are over 15 years old and have exceeded their expected lifespan. Frequent breakdowns and inefficient cooling have made it clear that replacement is more cost-effective than continued repairs.
Q: What is the estimated cost of replacement?
A: Based on quotes we have received from vendors, the total cost to replace the air conditioning units—including equipment, installation, and necessary upgrades—is approximately $300,000.
Q: How will new air conditioning benefit the church?
A: New united will provide:
-
Consistent comfort during worship, meetings, and events
-
Lower energy costs through improved efficiency
-
Less maintenance costs for repairs
-
A more welcoming environment for visitors and members
Q: What’s the timeline for the project?
A: The plan is to phase in the remaining 12 replacement units over the next 3 years. We will continue to monitor the condition of the units over that time to replace them in the most cost-effective manner.
Q: Why do we need to do a churchwide capital campaign to raise the money for these A/C replacements?
A: We have been fortunate to be able to pay for the 8 units that have been replaced over the last couple of years through monies reserved for major maintenance items. At a cost of $300,000 for the remaining units needing to be replaced, we will not have sufficient money in our general budget to fund them in the time frame we need to ensure that we have functioning air conditioning.
Q: How can I contribute to the campaign?
A: Through the Keeping Our Cool! campaign, you have the opportunity to choose to pledge a one-time donation or make periodic donations on a regular basis over the 3-Year life of the campaign. Every donation will be helpful in reaching our goal.
