Mosaic of Grace:
A Disciple's Journey
to Easter
The Christian season of Lent began on Ash Wednesday, February 18. This year, we are naming our Lenten journey “Mosaic of Grace: Why Did Jesus Have to Die?” This Lent, journey toward Easter through reflection, prayer, and intentional practices that help piece together the story of Christ’s love and sacrifice. Discover how God’s grace meets you in every part of your story, broken and beautiful alike.
JOURNEY TO EASTER
Walking Together One Faithful Step At A Time
Lent is a holy season of slowing down, reflection, and turning our hearts toward God. This year at St. Andrew’s, we invite you to journey through Lent with our theme, Mosaic of Grace: "Why Did Jesus Have to Die?" inspired by the book of the same name by Rev. Adam Hamilton.
Like a mosaic made of many broken and beautiful pieces, our understanding of Christ’s sacrifice is formed through different perspectives: love and suffering, justice and mercy, surrender and hope. Each week of Lent offers space to reflect on these themes through Scripture, prayer, simple fasting practices, and intentional acts of compassion.
Join the Journey of "Mosaic of Grace: A Disciple's Journey to Easter". Each week, you are invited to use the Mosaic of Grace 40 Days of Lent Journal (scroll down to download the journal), a space for prayerful self-reflection in your personal discipleship journey with Jesus. These weekly practices: Scripture, reflection, fasting challenges, and intentional responses are meant to help you slow down, become more attentive to God’s presence, and notice where grace is meeting you in real life.
This journey is designed to meet you where you are. Whether you are new to faith, returning after a long season, or walking closely with Christ, Lent is an invitation to pause, listen, and allow God’s grace to shape you from the inside out.
As we walk toward the cross and onward to the hope of Easter morning, may you discover how God is gently piecing together a deeper faith within you, one faithful step at a time.

Week One
Romans 1:29-39. Fast from complaining and “rebellious” speech (including gossip). Pause before speaking and ask: “Does this build? Does this heal? Does this align with who I want to be become in Christ?
The “Yes, Lord” Habit: Practice
immediate obedience to small nudges from God.

Week Four
Ephesians 5:15–16. Fast from "scrolling" or mindless entertainment that numbs you. Ask yourself: “What am I avoiding feeling, thinking about, or being present to when I numb out?”
Hidden Acts of Service: Perform one “hidden” act of service each day
this week.

Week Two
Colossians 3:13. Fast from holding grudges or “debts” against others. Ask yourself: “Where am I still collecting payment for a hurt that Christ has already paid for in me?” Forgive a literal or figurative debt someone owes you. You might say quietly in prayer: “I release you from the debt I’ve been collecting in my heart.”

Week Five
Luke 12:15. This may look like: pausing before impulse purchases;
noticing the emotions that drive spending (stress, boredom, reward, comparison); asking, “Do I truly need this—or am I seeking comfort, distraction, or validation?” Donate the money you saved to a local "rescue" mission or charity.

Week Three
James 4:1–2. Fast from blaming others or finding “scapegoats” for your stress. Instead of deflecting stress outward, take a breath and gently ask: “What’s really going on inside me right now?” Practice Courageous Solidarity. Stand up for someone who is being unfairly criticized or left out.

Week Six
1 Peter 5:6–7. Fast from anxiety and the need to control outcomes. When anxiety rises, gently name it and offer it to God: “This is heavy. I’m placing it in Your care.”Spend 10 minutes a day in silence, surrendering your day to God. Use this time to create space to remember that God is already present in what you’re facing.
